What is cluster and its level playing role

Cluster is defined as product and location specific. The units concentrated within a specific geographic area are engaged in manufacturing of same and similar products and having common opportunities and threats. 

Cluster has widespread attention as an instrument for enabling the small firms to increase their capacity and capabilities to overcome the internal limitations by joining and working together.

The overall coverage area is normally in the vicinity of 20 to 30 Kms. The Government of India (GoI) has adopted the cluster approach as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of small enterprises under the scheme called Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development programme (MSE-CDP).  It is purely a business model. The small players are being patronaged and protected under the above cluster programme

This portal will eventually be a 'one-stop-shop' for Engineering cluster, Chennai.  It is committed to provide standardized and uniform support services to cluster community to create customized business opportunities.
It is also an effective tool to access business information and capture the business opportunities available within the Engineering cluster among the potential clients.
